A responsible, precursor and visionary partner
Emile Noël has chosen to partner with a structure specialising in the sustainable management of red palm crops. The mission of Natural Habitats is to cultivate the red palm in a sustainable way and 100% organic. The company’s mission is to manage crops responsibly, respecting the environment and people, while ensuring transparency and traceability of supplies.
Alfons van der Aa, when he founded Natural Habitats in 2009, aimed to prove that palm cultivation can have a positive impact on the planet, without damaging the habitat of animal species and local communities that are unfortunately often affected by the damage caused by the conventional palm industry.
Since its creation, Natural Habitats has expanded to other regions and established new partnerships with, especially, independent producers. The goal is to make larger quantities of organic and responsible red palm oil available.
Natural Habitats is behind the creation of the “Palm Done Right” (The well cultivated palm) movement, aimed at raising awareness, informing and encouraging brands, manufacturers and consumers to support the sustainable and responsible cultivation of organic palm oil.
Where does Emile Noël red palm oil come from?
Emile Noël red palm oil comes from 100% organic and responsible farming located in Ecuador. It is cultivated without the intervention of pesticides, herbicides or synthetic fertilizers and in compliance withthe “Palm Done Right” commitments.
Today, more than 129 small farmers and 150 small farms produce organic red palm oil for the industry in Ecuador. And this number continues to grow as farmers recognize the benefits of conversion to organic farming (positive impacts on the environment, health, economy).
They have dedicated their land to the production of organic red palm oil using only organic farming practices, free from chemicals and conventional methods, and are aligned with organic values, beliefs and principles.
The farming of Emile Noël red palm oil is controlled
The production of red palm oil within the industry in Ecuador meets the most demanding international standards, including the Round Table for Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO), for the protection of the Ecuadorian rainforest.
The Palm Done Right movement goes beyond the current certifications and requirements, to ensure an ever more positive impact. It promotes the implementation of the RSPO standards (supported by WWF), European organic regulations and fair trade standards: Fair for Life
Once received at Pont-Saint-Esprit, the oil undergoes several analyzes.
The laboratory of the oil mill carries out about ten physico-chemical controls as well as organoleptic analyzes related to the aspect and the flavor of the oil.
Subsequently, we ensure that no contaminants are present by following a control plan including the search for pesticides, heavy metals, phthalates, mycotoxins, PAHs, etc.
Natural Habitats Red Palm Oil is RSPO-IP certified.
“IP” means “identity preserved”, it is the most demanding level of certification.
All lots of oils come from a single source, identified, certified and traced separately from other crops.
Emile Noël red palm oil is certified organic by Ecocert according to the French organic farming regulations.
An equitable oil: Emile Noël’s organic red palm oil sector is labelled BIOPARTENAIRE®. It is also certified according to the Fair for Life standard, which means that exchanges with producers are fair.
